Whether it is a gathering of 10 or 1,000 attendees, they are dedicated to delivering their client’s strategic objectives.

We are searching for a forward-thinking Accounting Manager to join our client’s team in Silver Spring, MD. The ideal person will be a financial leader excited about working as a department of one and not only record and document data, but also analyze and project how to best optimize the information going forward. This is a full-time position reporting directly to the President/CEO.

What You’ll Do:


  • Using QuickBooks, performs contract cost accounting, bookkeeping, payroll functions, and other related duties in daily administration of accounting
  • Works closely with executive management to offer accounting support and guidance as appropriate, as well as assists in management accountability
  • Develops, organizes, and implements effective internal controls and systems for accounting processes and recommend changes to improve system and financial performance
  • Provides hands-on financial management in accounting and financial functions including accounts payable; accounts receivable; cash management; general ledger; reconciliations; payroll; billing; budgeting; monthly reports and financial forecasting, analysis, planning and execution ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Learn company rates and how they are calculated, as well as costing/pricing for proposals, Invoicing, contracts, proposals and expenses
  • Potential client communication, especially in the proposal phase (explaining numbers or data)
  • Maintains general ledger to include the preparation of journal entries, coding of invoices, accounts analysis and reconciliation, closing books monthly, and setting up new accounts
  • Conducts billing and banking reconciliations, maintains/reviews the line of credit/credit card summary, month end close, and journal entry review
  • Creates purchase orders, verifies all invoices for payment, ensures expenditures are charged to appropriate accounts, reconciles customer accounts and collects from individuals or institutions
  • Prepares and analyzes financial statements to include monthly balance sheet, income statement, tax returns, and reports on changes in financial position/budget variances
  • Prepares and maintains accounting records and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards
  • Analyzes trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses;
  • Forecasting and improvement in operational efficiencies and margins
  • Reports organization’s finances to management, and offers suggestions about resource utilization, tax strategies, and assumptions underlying budget forecasts
  • Prepares and files quarterly tax estimates and prepare year end taxes
  • Participate in weekly Management meeting with CEO and Team

What You’ve Done

  • 5 years of experience being in an accounting role without the need for supervision
  • Previous payroll administration experience
  • Government contracting accounting experience and understanding of job/contract cost accounting required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and QuickBooks
  • Experience with word processing, database, and spreadsheet software
  • Must be able to work independently with self direction and initiative as well as ability to work cooperatively as a member of a small team
  • Must have strong professionalism and exceptional customer service skills
  • Should have sharp attention to detail, flexibility, and be solutions-focused
  • Have the ability to be proactive and look out for roadblocks
  • Excellent decision making and judgment skills
  • Can easily handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines
  • CPA preferred but not required
